Dear Competitors, (posted 9/18/07)

Welcome to the Stone Gate Farm Horse Trials.  We are looking forward to welcoming many familiar faces as well as some new ones. Please read this letter in its entirety as it will make things easier for you when you arrive.   It seems that this time of the year the rising sun can be a bit of a problem on cross country and all levels have fences that are heading directly into the  sun we are scheduling a late start on Sun.  Of course I checked the conditions a week ago and things may be different by Sun.  It the glare is too bad we may further delay the cross country start on Sun.  However, with the low entries we still be getting done fairly early on Sun.
Due to the lower entries we cancelled a judge and then we got a bunch of late entries.  The end result is a fairly long day on Sat. with one judge going back and forth between dressage and stadium.  It will be important for everyone to be ready to ride at their scheduled times.  All Beginner Novice (who ride stadium after 3:30) & Novice stabled competitors will need to use Schneider Rd  to get to and from stadium and cross country as Beginner Novice cross country will be in progress and we can’t have horses on the cross country course while there are riders on course. To get to warm up you will go through the day trailer parking field. On Sun. all stabled horses will have to use Schneider Rd. to get to and from cross country.
Starter and Beginner Novice competitors are to ride stadium in their cross country gear as you will be going directly from stadium to cross country.
Parking in the stable area will be somewhat tight, please park close (refer to the stabling area map).  Please do not park in the pasture as it is distracting to horses running cross country.  Anyone who will not be staying on Sat night ONLY could possibly park in the pasture.  Keep in mind that the lights run off a generator and will be going out @ 11:00PM and that there are no lights or stall doors for that matter in the pipe barn (# 59 – 70) so please plan accordingly.  Please remember that the drive to stabling will be closed during dressage in ring 1 which is closest to the pond.
Packets will be available at the stabling barn on Fri. and at the house on Sat. For those who are not stabling on grounds, please park in the parking field at the top of the hill and walk down to the stabling barn as the parking is limited in the stabling area.
Please take the time to review the following information before your arrival as it should answer many of your questions and hopefully make your stay here a little more pleasant.

Volunteers:  we still could use a few volunteers, in particular on Sat.  So perhaps those Novice competitors who are stabling would consider jump judging for Beginner Novice on Sat. afternoon. It seems that I’ve lost most of my help for setting stadium.  If anyone is available early Wed. afternoon I sure could use some help. Please check out the volunteer section of the web page for more information or just contact me directly via e-mail or phone @ Jackie@stonegatefarm.org or 330-222-2089 or my cell 330-277-6964.

We are keeping our fingers crossed for good weather

If you have any questions and or comments, please let us know.

Volunteer Schedule

The Excel file attached includes the following:

Sat. is going to be a long and busy day.  Please check in at the volunteer trailer, which will be located between the two metal buildings, ½ hour before your scheduled start time.  The cross country on Sat. is at two different times, please report to stadium after the Starter cross country by noon as we are going to need help changing the courses between divisions and then back to for cross country fences by 3:20.

The jump judges briefing on Sun. will be @ 8:30 at the volunteer trailer.  Please remember to bring chairs and if you have any walkie talkies please bring them as we seem to be missing several.

Thank you very much for helping out this weekend; we couldn’t do it without you.

Jackie & Danial
